Presbyterian Senior High School, Bompata has secured a historic place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), following a remarkable performance that saw the school defeat seeded Our Lady of Grace Senior High School (OLAG) and Kumasi Senior High Technical School.
The achievement marks a significant milestone in the school's growing presence on Ghana's national academic stage. Bompata finished the fiercely contested One-Eighth Stage encounter with 34 points, ahead of OLAG's 28 points and Kumasi Sec. Tech.'s 22 points.
The result was particularly significant because OLAG entered the contest as a seeded school, having reached the semi-finals of the previous NSMQ. Bompata, however, rose to the occasion, displaying exceptional composure, speed, teamwork and academic prowess to overcome the highly regarded opponent and book its place in the quarter-finals.

The team's journey began in the Preliminary Stage, where Bompata delivered an impressive performance against Sacred Heart SHS and Mansen SHS, finishing top with 58 points.

A Contest That Tested Everything
The One-Eighth Stage contest against OLAG and Kumasi Sec. Tech. was a true test of academic strength and mental resilience.
OLAG started strongly, taking an early lead with 17 points, while Bompata was close behind on 16 points. Kumasi Sec. Tech. had 10 points.
Bompata responded in the subsequent rounds, steadily closing the gap and eventually taking control of the contest.
The team remained composed under pressure and continued to accumulate points through the various rounds. By the closing stages, Bompata had established a decisive advantage and crossed the finish line with 34 points.
OLAG ended on 28 points, while Kumasi Sec. Tech. finished with 22.
